The mission of the Little Rock Marathon is to host a premier event open to athletes of all abilities, promote a healthy lifestyle through running and walking, and raise funds for Little Rock Parks & Recreation.

The Little Rock Marathon, a division of Little Rock Parks & Recreation, is a self-supporting enterprise fund and does not receive funding from the City of Little Rock or local tax revenues. Since its inception in 2003, the organization has donated an estimated $1.5 million to Little Rock Parks & Recreation.

Generating an estimated $14 million in annual economic impact, the Little Rock Marathon has welcomed more than 371,700 participants through races, events, and free training programs. This growth has been fueled through school-based initiatives, community outreach, partnerships with running and walking groups across the country, and passionate grassroots promotion.

Held each year on the first weekend in March, Little Rock Marathon Race Weekend includes a marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K, kids mile, adaptive mile, and a free two-day health and fitness expo.

Known for producing a world-class race experience, the Little Rock Marathon also helped redefine the marathon industry in 2005 when Runner’s World recognized the event for its oversized finisher medal — a tradition that continues today with the race’s famously huge medals.
